FEATURE FRIDAY

I’M UNEMPLOYED & SCARED SHE WOULD LEAVE ME. HELP!

FeatureFriday

Hello guys, it’s Feature Friday! Every Friday I would be sharing a real life experience and situation of a reader who needs my opinion. If you have a situation that you need my opinion on, email me on featurefriday@alocovivavoce.com.

Read the situation and my opinion after the cut. The names have been changed to protect the identity of the person being featured. Enjoy!

Hello OUR,

I hope you will read this because I am sharing this problem as a way of removing a burden from my heart. My name is Mayowa and my story is divided into two; the search for a better life and my relationship.

My search for a better life: It is titled this way because I graduated ten years ago and I am still unemployed. After all my effort for years to find a job failed, I decided to further my education and get a postgraduate degree in international relations which I recently completed last year 2015 yet the search for a job is still on without any success.

I listened to your program (Rubbing Minds) on Tuesday on 96.9 Cool FM Abuja and decided to share my story with you.

My relationship: Well I have had my own share of relationships in the past but none went smoothly because of my financial situation. Most of them left me but I had to put it behind me and move forward.

My problem now is that there is this girl in my life that loves me so much but I am scared she might get tired of my poor financial situation and leave like the others did. I love her too but I am scared. I am really scared because I do not want to go down the lonely road anymore.

I really hope you are able to help me find a solution to the two major problems in my life right now. I really do hope.

Hello Mayowa,

Thanks for writing in and most of all, thank you for listening to my show on 96.9 Cool FM Abuja.

FYI Readers: You can listen to me on the radio every Monday – Thursday 8pm – 1am. It’s the Night Cafe on 96.9 Cool FM Abuja. Or stream live on coolfm.ng/abuja

Back to you Mayowa.

I am going to respond to the two aspects of your life you mentioned one after the other.

Firstly, Your search for a better life.

It really is unfortunate – the terrible employment situation of this country. How can a graduate still be searching for a job after 10 years? It’s a pathetic situation but we must find a way to make the best out of every situation.

Since you can’t find someone to employ you, you must consider employing yourself.

As a matter of fact, if you had written to me before you went for your masters, I would have told you not to bother. If you didn’t get a job with a Bachelor’s degree, having a Master’s or Doctorate degree doesn’t make it any easier.

I would have advised you use the money you used to pay tuition for your Masters to start up a business and focus on making it work from there.

Now, that ship has sailed so the best option is to see if you can source for capital to start something up but if you are bent on working for someone then consider volunteering for free at a place of work.

The whole point of working for free is after a while when they see how valuable you are to the company, they will most definitely offer you a position full time.

Second part, Your relationship!

I am of the honest opinion that now that you are still struggling to find your feet, you definitely do not need any form of distraction.

However, you can’t turn down love. After all, the girl is fully aware of your unemployment status yet she loves you regardless. That right there is virtue and you should hold hold onto it.

Don’t live your life in fear of what might or might not happen. If she is yours, she is yours and nothing will change that.

I hope I have been of help. Thanks for sharing!
